I put my RoadsterSport RS3 Exhaust on last week after driving for two weeks with no exhaust from the cat back. The exhaust note is wonderful. I’m loving it so far
Then yesterday I thought I’d get crazy and do my valve cover gasket and clean the valve cover. It was kinda nerve racking, but pretty straight forward. I’ve loved this car since I could say the word car. As I’ve grown, I decided to try to do all my own work on it. In the last year I have really started to appreciate the car for what it is. It’s very very very simple, and it drives like nothing else I have ever driven. Miatas kick ass!

Did you use RTV silicone near the cams when you replaced the valve cover gasket?

When it’s time, you should do the timing belt by yourself. Great way to get to know this engine, and no risk as it’s non-interference.

Yeah I did. I was nervous I would use too little or too much but I haven’t seen any leaks yet. Keeping my fingers crossed though!

I just did the valve cover on my miata a few months ago! Did you paint it too? I painted mine copper. I was hoping it would fix my oil leak, but it looks like it’s a front main seal. A much more involved job, but I’m thinking of tackling it this winter since I’ll have so much more free time.

Good! Just making sure, it’s an important part of the job. If there are no leaks now, you’re probably in the clear. That stuff cures in like a day.
